Coles Media leader joins Bunnings as new head of retail media

Bunnings has scored a new head of retail media.

On Thursday, Coles Media’s head of strategy and planning, Sam Hegg, confirmed that he started at the hardware and garden centre chain this week.

“Such a great opportunity to work with [Bunnings’ general manager marketing] Justine Mills and the team to build something really compelling for brands,” Hegg wrote in a LinkedIn post.

“Big thanks to everyone at Redworks and Coles for the last three years… some of the most rewarding and enjoyable years of my career.”

Bunnings’ chief people officer, Damian Zahra, told Mumbrella on Friday: “We’re looking forward to Sam joining our team as head of retail media as we build out our retail media offering to help deliver the best experience for our customers and suppliers.”

Hegg joined Coles in April 2022 from dentsu where he worked as executive director, strategy, for over two years and almost 12 years in total for the business.

“It was an opportunity I couldn’t say no to and I can’t wait to join the team,” Hegg told Mumbrella at the time.
