Commercial radio ad revenue up, but down in Adelaide

The commercial radio industry has seen an ad revenue uplift of nearly three per cent in February, with Perth recording the biggest growth.  

According to figures complied by Deloitte for industry body Commercial Radio Australia advertising revenue grew 2.74 per cent to $48.36m in the five metropolitan markets, signalling the fourth consecutive month of growth.

The Sydney market rose 5.52 per cent to $15.18m, Melbourne was up 1.15 per cent to $14.21m, Brisbane was up 2.3 per cent to $7.72m, while Perth saw a 6.28 per cent rise to $6.61m.

Adelaide was the only market which saw a fall, down 4.71 per cent to $4.63m.

Joan Warner, Commercial Radio Australia CEO, said: “The industry is working hard to promote the medium as a cost effective and efficient way to advertise and recently launched the ‘Smart marketers use radio’ ads as part of it ongoing multi- million dollar brand campaign.”
