Comms agency Society names WPP’s Annike Morgan as head of new Sydney office

Communications agency Society has appointed Annike Morgan to lead its new Sydney office from mid-December as group director.

Morgan joins from WPP AUNZ, where she was practice director of consumer brands at BCW. In September, WPP AUNZ announced BCW would absorb fellow PR agency PPR.

In addition to her time at WPP AUNZ, Morgan brings almost 20 years’ experience working for clients such as Emirates, Wolgan Valley Resort and Spa, South African Tourism, Tourism NT, McDonald’s, Woolworths, Subway, and Lion.

The agency’s founder and managing director, Dena Vassallo, has previously worked with Morgan at WPP AUNZ.

“Annike is a best in class operator, and well respected by the industry,” Vassallo said.

“Her understanding of the media and marketing landscape, combined with the personal attention and professionalism she brings to her work, will be a huge asset to Society as we take another step forward in our journey. I have worked with Annike previously, and I’m excited to see what we can do together now.”

Morgan’s appointment follows the hiring of Lachlan Cunningham to lead the agency’s digital and social media services division. The launch of a Sydney office, the location of which will be announced in early 2020, comes after new national client wins including Mollydooker Wines and Kelly Engineering.

“Society has been representing clients headquartered in Sydney and Brisbane since we started, and in that time the agency has grown significantly,” Vassallo added.

“We plan to continue that through an expanded national presence and by pushing the boundaries on our integrated capabilities. Annike and Lachlan will be excellent leaders to our team and clients.”

Society was launched by Vassallo in 2017. Its client roster includes San Remo, Violet Crumble, South Australian National Football League, Department for Innovation and Skills – SA, and Essilor.
