Comms Council launches industry body for account management

Badjar Ogilvy's Michael McEwen

The Communications Council has today launched the Account Management Group of Australia.

The body will be led by Michael McEwen, GM of Melbourne agency Badjar Ogilvy.

Created to promote account management in the advertising industry, the group will initially serve just Melbourne.

It follows the launch of the Communications Council PR arm this year, and is a further addition to several industry bodies under the Comms Council umbrella including AWARD for creatives and the Account Planning Group for planners.

Comms Council boss Margaret Zabel said: “We are delighted there now is a galvanising of the account management community with this initiative. AMGA will be focused on leveraging the industry’s collective expertise to encourage learning, with the intention of increasing the standing and output of the discipline. We look forward to identifying where we can provide account management professionals the most value.”

McEwen said: “It’s great to be a part of an initiative that really celebrates and inspires improvement in the skills of account management to better understand the business challenges faced by our clients. We have a shared ambition to create great work that works.”

An official launch will be held on Thursday 15th November.
