Cowan’s Ward jumps ship to head up rival agency Blue Marlin

Blue Marlin, the brand design agency, has appointed Cowan’s Marshall Ward to the role of managing director of its Sydney office.

Ward will take over from Dominic Walsh, who is leaving the agency to become managing partner of Interbrand.

In another new appointment, Blue Marlin marketing manager Jonathan Samuel has been promoted to the new role of client development director.

He will also join the agency’s management team which consists of creative director Ian Catling, group account director Kay Chrystal Lord and Ward.

The design agency has offices in London and Bath in the UK, the New York and Bangkok.

It set up a Sydney office in 1999 and its clients include Johnson & Johnson, Lion Nathan wines, Schweppes, Cadbury and Arnotts.

Ward will leave his role as client services director at Cowan and join Blue Marlin in May.
