Cricket Australia appoints new head of marketing to drive match attendance
Cricket Australia has named Sonia Bijelic as its new head of marketing with responsibility for promoting all forms of the game.
Bijelic, who replaces senior marketing manager Julian Dunne who left in May, will be tasked with increasing attendances, supporting Cricket Australia’s participation programs and overseeing the organisation’s data and customer strategy.
Bijelic, who joins from Treasury Wine Estates where she was responsible for increasing wine sales through its direct-to-consumer channels, will report into Ben Amarfio, executive general manager media, communications and marketing.
She has also held senior marketing roles with The Walt Disney Company, ANZ, GE Money and Telstra.
“Sonia brings with her a great amount of marketing experience having worked with some of Australia’s most well-known organisations,” Amarfio said. , Executive General Manager Media, Communications & Marketing. “I am confident that she will make a significant impact on Australian cricket.”
Bijelic will take up the role on July 21.
The problem with match attendances in any code is that the TV coverages of Cricket, Rugby, League and AFL is so good, the best seat is your lounge.

some free advice.. if you wantto increase attendance, try lowering the ticket prices to international matches.
family of 2 adults and 2 kids, $150 (not even premium seats)
add food $60
perhaps some merchandise $30 – $60
parking $20
petrol & tolls up to $30
that’s a $300 day out.
nah, i’m a battler and i’d rather stay at home and watch on tv
most marketing types aren’t battlers and never see the total cost equation from the customer point of view. all this data and customer strategy is great but if your product is beyond the price point of a normal family, then no wonder attendances are falling every year
