The announcement:

North Queensland’s biggest annual sporting event just got bigger, with Supercars excited to announce that three of the biggest music acts in Australia, Tones and I, G Flip and Cyril, will perform at July’s NTI Townsville 500.

The trio of acts will all perform on the evening of Saturday 6 July, at the NTI Townsville 500 within the circuit precinct.

It’s a major coup for the event to have the three headline acts performing on the same stage on the night.

Since exploding onto the global scene in 2019 as a busker from the Mornington Peninsula, Australia, Tones and I has smashed records, garnered multiple awards, sold out tours, surpassed 10 billion streams and reached multi-platinum heights around the world.

Her breakout “Dance Monkey” went 6x platinum in the United States, which minted her as “the first female artist to reach 2 billion streams on Spotify with one song,” and has consistently held a spot in the “Top 10 Most-Streamed Songs of All-Time on Spotify.”

Her 2019 EP, The Kids Are Coming, crashed the Top 30 of the Billboard 200 and is certified Gold.

Meanwhile, Tones And I’s full-length debut, Welcome To The Madhouse, toppled the Australian Albums Chart at #1 in 2021. Among five career ARIA Awards, “Cloudy Day” closed out 2022 as ARIA’s “Song of the Year.”

G Flip is another homegrown artist who in recent years has won global awards, including the 2023 ARIA for Best Australian Live Act.

Their sophomore album, Drummer (released in August 2023) shot to #1 on the ARIA charts, was named Triple J’s best album of the year, and propelled G Flip to their largest sold-out Australian tour and first US headline tour.

The album received six ARIA nominations and two wins at the 2023 awards, including the award for best live act. Drummer also saw a whopping seven songs land in Triple J’s Hottest 100, breaking the record for most entries ever by an artist in a single year.

G Flip is currently on their massive Drummer Tour which has sold over 50,000 tickets across the world.

Cyril is an Australian DJ and producer whose stardom reached international heights when his remix of “Stumblin’ In” went viral on TikTok in 2023.

The song than reached as high as number 2 on the national charts in Austria and Germany, while making the top 10 in Belgium, Poland, Switzerland and the UK.

His latest single, a remix of Simon & Garfunkel’s “The Sound of Silence” has been played over 100 million times on Spotify, where Cyril amasses 18.6 million monthly listeners.

“This is one of the biggest music line ups we have ever announced for the Townsville event,” said Supercars CEO Shane Howard.

“We are incredibly proud to be offering fans the opportunity to see three of Australia’s most popular acts on stage.

“Concert entry is free with any same day ticket and children of all ages are welcome to attend, which means this really makes the NTI Townsville 500 something for everyone.
