Dafydd Williams returns to Ten as head of development
Dafydd Williams has rejoined Network Ten, who he left in 2012, as head of development where he will report to chief programming officer Beverley McGarvey.
The new role will see Williams heading up the development of new show ideas for the network, which he originally joined as a network executive producer where he was responsible for programs such as The Biggest Loser Australia, MasterChef Australia, Bondi Rescue, Bondi Vet, Recruits and The Living Room. In 2010 he moved into the head of factual programming role.
Williams said in a statement: “I’m delighted to be returning to Network Ten and it will be a pleasure to be reunited with the talented team of friends and colleagues.”
Prior to Network Ten, Williams was an executive producer at Southern Star Entertainment and Beyond Productions. He also worked in the UK broadcasting industry for 12 years including roles at the BBC, ITV, S4C and The Welsh Fourth Channel.
McGarvey said in a statement: “Dafydd is one of the best-connected and most experienced producers in the Australian television industry. His appointment is part of the strategy to build our management talent across all departments of Network Ten.
“We are very excited to be welcoming Dafydd back to Ten. The development of new shows is, of course, a key area for us and Dafydd’s skills and experience will be a great addition to our local programming and production team.”
In the Australian production sector, Williams has worked on Big Brother and Ready Steady Cook for Ten; Hot Property, Hot Auctions and Better Homes and Gardens for Seven; Money for Nine; Beyond 2000 for The Discovery Channel; Megastructures for National Geographic; and Science Frontiers for The Learning Channel.
