Dan Anstey waves farewell to Sea FM and sits down for Breakfast on Triple M

Dan Anstey, previously the co-host of Sea FM 90.9’s Breakfast on the Gold Coast, has joined Breakfast with Marto and Margaux on Triple M Brisbane.

Departure announcement:

“Six spectacular years” – that’s how 90.9 Sea FM Breakfast host Dan Anstey describes his time living in, working on, and loving the Gold Coast.

This morning on air, Dan announced he was waving the Gold Coast farewell and moving back home to Brisbane with his young family. He said he was proudly taking his beloved ‘I love GC’ personalised plates with him and his Ibis tattoo (he’ll leave this as to which part is actually true) as constant reminders of the special place that Sea FM and the Gold Coast has in his heart.

“I arrived on the GC in 2016 with a packed lunch and a girlfriend. I’m leaving with a wife, two kids, and personalised plates that forever will remind me of the six spectacular years I’ve had here, and of sharing the breakfast studio with Bianca and Ben, two of the best in the business,” he said.

“The show is the best it’s ever been with Bianca and Ben and I’m forever indebted to Sea FM and the Goldie, but it’s on to the next adventure back home in Brisbane … for now.”

Sea FM content director Kim Czosnek said the Gold Coast had embraced Dan Anstey as one of their own from the moment he arrived.

“For a qualified electrical engineer, Dan makes a pretty fantastic radio host and we have been honoured to have him wake up the Gold Coast on Sea FM for six years. While we are saddened to see him leave, we know that his seat will not remain empty for very long. It is, after all, the hottest radio gig in the country… according to everyone at Sea FM that is!”

Czosnek said an announcement would be made soon on Anstey’s replacement.

Anstey, his wife Clare and their two young children, Halle and Augie will move to Brisbane, with Dan back in the studio on Monday – at a brand new role as anchor at Triple M on Breakfast with Marto and Margaux.

Bianca and Ben will hold down the microphones from 5am to 9am weekdays until their new host is announced for 90.9 Sea FM.

Commencement announcement:

For a qualified electrical engineer, Dan Anstey makes a pretty fantastic radio host, which is excellent news as he is set to join Triple M Brisbane as anchor on Breakfast with Marto and Margaux from this Monday, May 30.

Anstey has been co-hosting Sea FM 90.9’s Breakfast on the Gold Coast with Bianca Dye and Ben Hannant for six years and prior to that held on-air roles with The Fox in Melbourne and is a regular TV and event host, but today announced he will move back to his beloved Brisbane and call the Triple M studio his new home from 5.30am weekday mornings.

Triple M Brisbane content director, Jamie Angel said Anstey joining Breakfast was a no brainer.

“We searched the whole country to find the perfect Triple M Brisbane Breakfast anchor and it turned out he was sitting just down the road on the Goldie the whole time,” he said. “Dan’s dynamic, funny and a wonderful human being. He’s already worked on some of the Australia’s most successful radio shows, and we can’t wait for him to join the Triple M Brisbane family and settle in with Marto and Margaux for Breakfast.”

Anstey said after six spectacular years on Gold Coast breakfast radio, he was thrilled to be returning home to Brisbane.

“I spent some of the best years of my life in Brisbane. Mainly in the beer garden of the RE watching the mighty Lions, Broncos and Maroons, when I probably should have been studying! I honestly couldn’t be happier to be returning home after a decade, with my wife and two kids in tow. Standing atop Kangaroo Point to show them the sprawling beauty of the great brown snake will truly be a life goal achieved,” he said.

Anstey, his wife Clare and their two young children Halle and Augie will move to Brisbane, with Dan in the Triple M studio on Monday 30 May with Marto and Margaux.
