Dan Murphy’s publishes recipe book to make cocktail-making simple and fun.

The 180-page book offers 68 recipes, tips, and tricks to help Australians shake, stir, and sip with confidence at home.

The announcement:

Cocktails don’t have to be complicated. With the launch of its very first book, The Dan’s Cocktail Book, Dan Murphy’s is helping Australians shake, stir and sip with confidence – no bartending degree required.

Landing in stores and online this October, just in time for summer entertaining and Christmas gifting, the 180-page hardcover is packed with 68 cocktail recipes created in collaboration with some of Australia’s top mixologists including Matt Stirling (Caretaker’s Cottage) and Matt Linklater (Zareh Melbourne, formally of the iconic Black Pearl).

Building on Dan Murphy’s 73-year legacy of making great drinks accessible, the drinks retailer has poured that know-how into one book – designed to make cocktails simple, fun and foolproof for everyone.

The Dan’s Cocktail Book helps you perfect the classics – like the Margarita, Negroni and Old Fashioned – before taking things up a notch with creations like the fiery Lao Gan Martini, bold Cold Brew Negroni and silky Brown Butter & Sage Sour. Each cocktail is brought to life with stunning photography and the design expertise of acclaimed Evi-O.Studio.

It’s not just about the recipes either. In true Dan’s style, the book comes loaded with clever tips – from picking the right cocktail gear and cracking cocktail lingo, to pairing drinks with food and pulling off simple garnish hacks – giving readers everything they need to shake with confidence at home.

“We wanted to create a cocktail book you’ll actually use,” says Lara Chan-Baker, editor in chief of Dan’s Daily (Dan Murphy’s own online publication) and author of The Dan’s Cocktail Book.

“No 12-page ingredients lists or obscure liqueurs that will collect dust at the back of our shelf. It’s a book designed for real life and real people – if you’ve ever stood in front of your cupboard and thought, ‘Please tell me I can make something with this,’ you’re in the right place. Everything inside is road-tested and extremely delicious.”

The launch forms part of Dan Murphy’s wider Confident Cocktailing campaign, designed to re-inspire Australians to enjoy spirits and cocktails at home, with education, inspiration and value at the heart.

“The Dan’s Cocktail Book is our way of reigniting that excitement and showing just how effortless and affordable cocktails at home can be,” says Sarah Hall, head of spirits at Endeavour Group. “A bottle of spirits is one of the most economic ways to entertain, offering dozens of drinks and plenty of variety. With cocktails costing $20–30 each if you go out, making them at home costs just a fraction of that, and with this book, you can still deliver a bar-quality experience.”

“It breaks down the barriers, showing that with just a few ingredients and a little inspiration, anyone can create something impressive and delicious. It’s about giving Australians the confidence to enjoy cocktails at home without the complexity, and with far greater value.”

The Dan’s Cocktail Book will be available nationwide in all Dan Murphy’s stores and online from 9 October (RRP $35, or $30 My Dan’s Members price). To celebrate the launch, Dan Murphy’s will also be hosting cocktail masterclasses in selected stores.

So, whether you’re planning a summer of spritzes, mastering the perfect Old Fashioned, or looking for a unique Christmas gift, The Dan’s Cocktail Book promises to be your go-to drinking companion.
