Dancing with the Stars sweeps up for Seven

Dancing with the Stars won Tuesday night for Channel Seven as its two-and-a-half hour debut had 1.331m viewers across the five city metro, preliminary overnight ratings from OzTam show.

The show including former gameshow host Tony Barber, Daily Edition co-host Sally Obermeder and WSFM morning presenter Brendan ‘Jonesy’ Jones, was also the top program in people 25-54.

Meanwhile Ten’s sixth episode of Recipe to Riches, featuring a sweets challenge, had 514,000 viewers, a slight lift from last week’s 481,000 but still fourth in its timeslot. The Woolworths-backed cooking and marketing show was 19th for the night and 12th in Ten’s target demographic of people 25-54.

Big Brother on Channel Nine had 817,000 viewers and was third in people 25-54. The show was followed by a repeat episode of the Big Bang Theory, which had 636,000 at 8pm.

Nine also launched a new British comedy series, Big School, written by and starring David Walliams of Little Britain. The show had 644,000 viewers at 8.30pm and was third in its timeslot after ABC1’s final Rise of the Continents documentary series and Dancing With The Stars.

Ten’s new American drama series Sleepy Hollow had 461,000 viewers across the five cities and was 21st for the night. Sleepy Hollow was also 21st in people 25-54.

The Dally M Awards for rugby league players had 190,000 viewers on subscription TV channel Fox Sports from 8.30pm.

Sunrise beat Today in the morning battle by 373,000 viewers to 315,000, and won in all cities but Sydney.

Nine’s evening gameshow Hot Seat beat Million Dollar Minute with 663,000 viewers, above Seven’s 514,000.

Seven won the night with 28 per cent of the audience share while Nine had 18.2 per cent. Ten’s share of the audience was 10.9 per cent, while ABC1 had 13.8 per cent.
