Dancing With The Stars records biggest launch since 2015, 744,000 metro viewers

The new All Stars season of Dancing With The Stars delivered a solid ratings return for Seven on its debut, pulling in an average of 744,000 metro viewers to be the #5 show on Sunday night.

Former contestants Ada Nicodemou, Fifi Box, Tom Williams, Shapelle Corby, Bec Hewitt, Jamie Durie, Jessica Gomes, Manu Feildel and more returned to the show in the biggest Dancing With The Stars launch since 2015.

The first episode saw reality television star Matty J appear as a wildcard, and radio and television presenter Fifi Box eliminated.

But it wasn’t enough to disrupt the ongoing string of wins for Nine’s Married at First Sight (MAFS), which won the night in the top position with 1.127 million metro viewers.

MAFS also took out the three key advertising demos, as Dancing came in fifth spot across People 16-39, People 18-49, and People 25-54.

Seven’s AFL: Sunday Afternoon Football performed strongly again, bringing in 487,000 metro viewers to be the #7 program, and easily topping Nine’s Sunday Afternoon NRL Live on 271,000 metro viewers.

Seven News (1.085 million metro viewers) and Nine News Sunday (1.017 million metro viewers) both hit the million mark, while 60 Minutes had 830,000 metro viewers.

7mate was the top rating multi-channel on Sunday as well, with 3.9% share.

Nine won Sunday with a 36% network share, defeating Seven (28.7%), ABC (13.9%) and Ten (13.2%).

The death of Prince Phillip saw news programming dominate on Saturday, with Seven’s Weekend Sunrise pulling in 242,000 metro viewers, ahead of Nine’s Weekend Today on 213,000. The programs were #10 and #11 respectively.

Later in the day, Seven News pulled 820,000 metro viewers, Nine grabbed 715,000 metro viewers and ABC News took 440,000.

It was another weekly win for Nine across non-ratings week 15, it took a 30.8% network share overall. Seven had 27.4%, ahead of the ABC with 16.9% and Ten with 16.8%.

Episodes of MAFS made up the top three programs of the week, with Monday night (1.121 million), Wednesday night (1.1 million) and Tuesday night (1.009 million) all cracking the million metro viewers mark.
