David Attenborough and Elton John drive Nine to a Thursday night ratings win

David Attenborough’s Seven Worlds, One Planet and Elton John Uncensored have been the driving forces behind a Thursday night win for Nine on a quiet evening in TV ratings.

Attenborough brought in 532,000 metro viewers and 763,000 nationally, while Elton John delivered 461,000 and 629,000, driving Nine to a 20.9% channel audience share and 31.3% as a network.

Nine also took top spot in all three of the key advertising demographics with Attenborough sitting on top of the 16-39s and 18-49s and Nine News on top of the 25-54s.

But it was still Seven News that took the top spot overall with 825,000 metro viewers and 1.27m nationally. Nine News brought in 726,000 and 987,000 and ABC News 581,000 and 822,000.

On Ten, Trial By Kyle slipped to just 140,000 metro viewers and 228,000 nationally for its finale. Jamie’s Ultimate Veg, a Jamie Oliver cooking show, brought in 205,000 and 294,000 before it.

Seven’s offering of Better Homes and Gardens and The Front Bar’s cricket special delivered 411,000 metro viewers and 367,000 respectively. The channel held a 17.0% audience share overall and 29.0% as a network.

ABC held a 10.9% channel audience share and 16.3% as a network, while Ten held 7.2% and 14.2%. The most popular multi-channel was 9Go with 4.8%.
