David Higgins moves to Foxtel

David Higgins - PICFormer editor of news.com.au David Higgins is to move to Foxtel and take up a role as social media marketing manager, working across the pay-tv operator.

Higgins, who is also a board member of the Walkley Foundation, will take up the role in late July after spending the last few years as one of News Limited’s lead strategists on digital content and paywalls.

“I’ve been working with social media companies at News Limited for the last few years and I’m a huge TV junkie so this was the perfect opportunity for me and was a role I couldn’t pass up”, Higgins told Mumbrella.

As a former employee of both Fairfax Media and News Corp Australia Higgins said the move to television and a more marketing focused role would be interesting.

“These roles are increasingly appearing in companies that traditionally haven’t had people with publishing skills working on content,” said Higgins, who is also a former editor of smh.com.au.

“There is a growing demand right across the spectrum of the industry for people with journalistic skills, and while I don’t call it journalism, those skills are in demand. For people like me, who have a love of marketing and business, those opportunities are a great way of exploring new areas.”
