David Sharaz, Brittany Higgins’ husband, joins Third Hemisphere
Independent PR agency Third Hemisphere has expanded its political communications offering with the appointment of David Sharaz as its new director.
Sharaz is an experienced political journalist and crisis communicator, and the husband of Brittany Higgins, who he supported through her high-profile rape and defamation cases.
His previous roles have included senior media advisor in the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, and various reporting and producing jobs for Sky, SBS and Southern Cross Austereo.
According to Third Hemisphere, Higgins’ case “highlighted the need for parliamentary reform, legislative changes to gendered violence related legislation, and landmark reforms to employer responsibilities related to workplace laws”.
Third Hemisphere’s founder and CEO, Hannah Moreno, is a vocal advocate on issues of sexual assault, domestic violence, and discrimination.
In a media release, she said Sharaz’s appointment was perfectly aligned with this advocacy.
“As a multiple-times rape survivor myself, I have been a long-standing advocate for a wide range of issues related to women’s rights, diversity, equity, and inclusion. This advocacy was the foundation upon which Third Hemisphere was founded, making the appointment of David Sharaz highly values and vision-aligned,” she said.
Sharaz said in the media release: “Business leaders need strong thought leadership, clear communication, and intelligent strategy. And that is exactly what Third Hemisphere offers. So I really look forward to working alongside the team.”
Moreno runs Third Hemisphere alongside her husband and managing director Jeremy Liddle, who said the agency helps industry leaders that are “doing good for the world”.
“Now with David we are excited to drive even more impact through Australia’s top boardrooms, courtrooms, and political chambers,” Liddle said in the media release.
The agency recently expanded into Melbourne, with several other new hires at the helm.
Third Hemisphere’s clients include the recently-won Avani Solutions, Arc Ento Tech, and HB11 Energy, as revealed by Mumbrella in January, as well as Australian Payments Plus, the UN Global Compact Network Australia, and more.
