Dedication of many brings Suncorps netball partnership to life

Suncorp is reflecting its commitment to Australian netball in the story of a family that pitches in to get their daughter to practice and games each week.

The ad was created by Publicis Groupe’s Leo Burnett. Executive creative director, Andy Fergusson, said the ad was inspired by Lara Dunkley whose parents drove over 2,000km a week driving back and forth to training and games.

“It’s a level of dedication that sounds extreme on paper but is also universally understood by parents who support their kids at the courts, fields, and pitches of Australia every weekend. It’s also the same level of support that Suncorp has shown Netball itself,” Fergusson said.

Suncorp has been a principal partner of Netball Australia since 2017 and works with the organisation from its grass roots program Suncorp Net-Set-Go, to the Suncorp Super Netball professional league and the Australian Diamonds.

The partnership also includes the Team Girls program which encourages girls to gain confidence and stay in sports.

Suncorp executive general manager of brand and marketing, Mim Haysom, said: “Netball has the most emotionally engaged fan base in Australia. As a brand known for taking action and championing girls’ confidence through sport participation, we wanted to harness this connection through relatable storytelling that demonstrates the Suncorp Spirit.”

The campaign film will be supported by a multi-channel campaign and broadcast integration on Nine.
