Diageo hunts for another ad agency

Drinks company Diageo is to add a second agency to its creative roster in a move that potentially offers Saatchi & Saatchi and Host an early opportunity to get an alcohol client back on board after both were dropped by Lion Nathan just over a week ago.

The company said today that it would be putting another agency alongside Leo Burnett. The company has already chosen a shortlist, although it has not revealed what agencies are on it.

Diageo’s marketing director John Green said: “Adding to the roster will allow us to draw on multiple creative recourses to help drive the success of our iconic brands which include Johnnie Walker Scotch Whisky, Bundaberg rum, Smirnoff vodka, Baileys Irish cream liqueur and Guinness beer. Leo Burnett are an important and valued long-term partner and they will continue to work with us.”

The company is already reviewing its digital and media agencies.
