Dimetapp seeks to capitalise on tail-end of winter cold and flu season with recruitment campaign

Dimetapp is pushing its Ultra Plus cold and flu tablets in a campaign featuring an unwell man interviewing for the right remedy.

Created by Matterhorn Communications, the 30-second ad begins with the sick man saying “You’re the third cold and flu remedy I have seen, why should I pick you?”

The candidate, dressed in a Dimetapp box, lists all his attributes, as you would in a job interview,:”I’m liquid fast and I relieve your tough cold and flu symptoms,” he says.

The campaign is set to roll out across online, outdoor, in store, as well as a weather-activated digital campaign.

The digital out-of-home campaign includes a winter-inspired advertisement where Dimetapp Ultra Plus wears winter clothes in the snow, and one inspired by the rain, where he uses an umbrella.

Ashok Murthy, MBA marketing manager for Australia and New Zealand, said in a statement: “With a great new multi-media campaign, new packaging, new products and distribution in Woolworths, Coles, Chemist Warehouse and Community Pharmacies like Terry White Chemists & Priceline, the future for this local Pfizer initiative is looking very healthy, in fact early sales results are very encouraging, this is the start we all hoped for.”

Matt Kemsley, co-founder of Matterhorn, said: “When you have a new product like Dimetapp Ultra Plus which provides consumers with so many unique benefits, the best thing you can do is let the product speak for itself, so that’s what we did.”
