Director of The Project Group departs following loss of Toyota account

The director of PR agency The Project Group, Steve Rowland, has departed the agency following the loss of its biggest account, Toyota.

Rowland  updated his LinkedIn profile to “seeking new opportunities, available to develop plans for PR and events”, earlier this month.

Rowland worked at the agency as director for 21 years

Rowland was an account director for Toyota Australia for over 20 years, moving to The Project Group as a director in 1996.

Prior to Toyota pitching its account in November last year, The Project Group had been part of the brand’s roster for 30 years.

Toyotaappointed Red Agency to its PR account last month, following a competitive pitch process.

John Smailes, director of The Project Group, said: “The Project Group will work co-operatively with Toyota to assist in its transition to a sales and marketing company and in integrating its services into another agency.

“The Project Group has enjoyed a 30-year working relationship with Toyota since the inception of Toyota Motor Corporation Australia.”

Other clients of The Project Group include: Caltex, Symantec, Hino, Toyo Tires, Cams, TNT and Australia’s Best Cars.
