Djokovic vs de Minaur pulls in biggest AO audience of this year’s comp

The Australian Open match on Nine between Aussie Alex de Minaur and Serbian tennis champion Novak Djokovic topped entertainment on Monday.

The day nine session, which saw Djokovic securing a place in the quarter finals, drew in 730,000 metro viewers, the best figure of this year’s tournament so far. It also topped all three key advertising demos.

It is followed by the second night session in entertainment, attracting 489,000 metro viewers. The slot tied with Seven’s The Chase Australia, which also had 489,000 metro viewers.

Home and Away on Seven closely followed ratings, pulling in 488,000 metro viewers, as ABC’s Back Roads came in next with 378,000 metro audience.

Australian Open’s pre-match on Nine brought in 350,000 metro viewers, Seven’s The Chase Australia at 5pm attracted 308,000, and Ten’s The Bachelors aired to 277,000.

However, the #1 program on Monday was Seven News at 6:30 which aired to 889,000 metro viewers, while Seven News had 880,000 metro viewers.

Nine Network claimed an overall win with a 34.9% share, followed by Seven with 27.6%, ABC with 15.5% and Ten with 14.1%.

The top-rated primary channel on Monday was Nine with a 26.5% share, but the top-rated multichannel on Monday was 7Two with 4.4%.

In the latest Daily Consolidated Total TV Report for 16 January, Seven News at 6:30 was the #1 program nationally across linear, with 1.396 million viewers, including 38,000 on BVOD and an uplift of 3%.

The program with the biggest uplift was Ten’s The Bachelors on Monday with an uplift of 52% and had a total of 636,000 viewers, and BVOD audience of 158,000 nationally.
