Drug and alcohol testing on roads beats Donald Trump’s mighty planes

RBTFollowing police Random Breath Test Units on the Australian roads proved more popular than a mission by Donald Trump’s flight crew to cross the Atlantic, preliminary overnight ratings from OzTam show.

While Mighty Planes drew 689,000 metro viewers to Channel Seven, RBT averaged 782,000 on Channel Nine in the 7.30pm timeslot.

However Seven News was stronger than Nine News as the half hour bulletin on Seven drew 1.044m metro viewers across the five cities.

Nine News averaged 959,000 across the five cities with a 30 minute bulletin in all cities but Melbourne and Sydney where Nine is trialling a one hour long evening news program.

Today Tonight on Seven also had a higher audience than Nine, with 891,000 metro viewers above 838,000 for Nine’s A Current Affair.

Ten’s top performer was Ten Eyewitness News, the last to be presented by Mal Walden in Melbourne who drew  203,000 viewers, with the show averaging 610,000 across the five city metro.

Channel Ten’s repeat of Modern Family averaged 491,000 and was fourth in its timeslot after RBT, Mighty Planes and ABC1’s 7.30.

Nine’s new episode of Hostages was second in the 8.30pm timeslot after a repeat episode of QI on ABC1, while the James Bond movie Goldeneye averaged 499,999 for Channel Seven and Ten’s romantic comedy with Drew Barrymore, Never Been Kissed, rated 375,000.

Seven’s Sunrise had a strong lead over Nine’s Today in the morning battle, averaging 363,000 metro viewers compared to 276,000 for its rival.

The largest audience share was won by Channel Seven with 20.6 per cent, however Nine was not far behind with 19.3 per cent. Ten’s audience share was 11.9 percent, 1 per cent lower than ABC1’s.
