Duncan Arthur named as Guardian Australia’s sales chief
The Guardian has beefed up its Australian commercial team with a series of big hires.
The appointments include Duncan Arthur as commercial director after three years at the helm of online publisher Say Media’s Australian operation.
Arthur will oversee all commercial revenue activity in Australia, including brand partnerships. He will work alongside the Guardian’s local external sales house Inception Digital.
A further appointment is Tony Bell who joins as partnerships and sponsorship manager. Bell was previously national agency sales manager at Say Media and before that group sales manager at ninemsn. He is also a national sales manager at ACP Magazines.
And Anna Cotton has been appointed as brand partnerships executive in a move from The Guardian’s London office where she was commercial manager for Guardian Professional, focusing on education and culture professional networks.
Ian McClelland, MD of Guardian Australia, said: “Duncan, Tony and Anna are three outstanding hires for GNM and I am delighted to have them on board.
Meanwhile The Guardian’s Australian editor Katharine Viner today tweeted that Fairfax political journalist Daniel Hurst will join The Guardian’s Canberra team.
