DVD machines reach rental milestone
The DVD rental machine service Oovie has reached the one million rental milestone, with plans to expand into Queensland next month.
Oovie’s one millionth rental was Universal’s comedy Couples Retreat, in Brighton, NSW.
The company started in 2005 and was acquired by Hoyts last year. It now has more than 130 machines installed in supermarkets and shopping centres across NSW and Victoria, with promotional strategies such as free rentals on Wednesdays.
Oovie co-founer Ian O’Rourke said that starting next month, Oovie would expand into Queensland, followed by other territories later in the year.
