Embassy Roadshow comes to an end

Screen Australia and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is to bring to a close the organisations’ joint venture, the Embassy Roadshow program.

The Embassy Roadshow was an initiative to get Australian films played to international audiences. The program began in 2001 and has had over 3000, to over 250,000 people in over 100 international locations.

The initiative saw Mark Lazarus, producer of the 2002 film Australian Rules screened his picture in Ghana in March 2010.

The screen agency and DFAT will put in place a new approach to build on countries of focus set up by the Australian International Cultural Council (AICC) with the intention to build a stronger screen presence in those countries with solid outcomes for the Australian industry. The current country of focus is the Republic of Korea, with India to follow towards the end of 2012, early 2013.
