Enero appoints group strategy and M&A director, signalling expansion intentions

Sydney-based global agency group, Enero, has appointed Nick Burton as group strategy and M&A director, signalling a potential sign of things to come on the first day of the new financial year.

Burton will be based in the Enero Group headquarters in Sydney, and will be responsible for developing and executing the Group’s growth strategy and mergers and acquisitions activities.

Burton joins Enero after spending four years at global consultancy, Bain & Company in both London and Sydney. He was most recently senior manager, leading projects focused on corporate strategy and transformation for enterprises, also working with private equity investors, assessing potential acquisition targets.

His appointment will see him become part of the Executive Leadership Team and will report to Brent Scrimshaw, Enero Group CEO, effective immediately.

Scrimshaw, who today celebrates a year since taking up the role, said: “Nick’s industry experience and deep expertise in corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions will be invaluable to Enero and our agencies, as we progress our global strategy and identify growth opportunities across the Group. He will play a critical role in our global growth agenda and we’re thrilled to have him join at a very important time in the Group’s evolution.”

On his appointment, Burton said: “Enero’s collective of specialist agencies are market leaders in their respective areas, and offer a fantastic platform to explore further growth for the Group. I am thrilled to be joining Enero and be part of this journey, and look forward to accelerating the positive momentum and energy the team has built over the past 12 months.”

On the one year anniversary of Scrimshaw’s time as CEO, the group saif it is continuing to “fuel momentum and reshape its leadership team”.

There has been plenty of movement within Enero in the past six months, which has included the appointment of   Carla Webb-Sear as the group’s CFO, and last month  the appointment of Heather Kernahan as global CEO of Hotwire.

In March, Enero sold its interest in Frank PR as part of a management buyout by founder and chairman Graham Goodkind and managing director Alex Grier. This sale, according Scrimshaw, would provide capital for growth opportunities and acquisitions.

The following month, Enero announced its acquisition of McDonald Butler Associates, a B2B sales and marketing agency based in the UK.
