EngageTV hires former Nova exec Mark Shaw as director of strategy & commercial partnerships

Experienced media and marketing executive Mark Shaw has joined connected TV (CTV) and broadcast video on demand (BVOD) business, EngageTV.

Shaw joins as the EngageTV’s director – strategy and commercial partnerships, and his remit will include driving the company’s growth, as well as work on partnership with agencies, broadcasters, and technology providers.

Mumbrella understands that Shaw joined EngageTV at the end of June. His recent experience includes managing director of 88 Degrees and Rising, a London boutique management consulting firm.

He also held leadership roles at mobile customer experience agency Geronimo, and digital music programming company Digital Music Distribution. Shaw has served on the board of IAB Australia, and was the inaugural client director for Nova 96.9 when it launched in Sydney.

EngageTV is owned by Switch Digital Group, also the owner of Optimo Design and Stream.

Switch Digital CEO, Lee Stephens, said: “Mark has an incredible knowledge of the local digital, media and entertainment industries.

“His appointment will drive EngageTV’s growth, developing deep partnerships with agencies, broadcasters and technology providers across the evolving TV landscape.”

Shaw added: “I’m delighted to be leading this focus for EngageTV in what is an incredibly exciting time for the TV industry. CTV/ BVOD is now Australia’s fastest growing media channel with the internet disrupting the way TV is watched, traded and delivered,”

Switch Digital launched EngageTV in Australia last September, with the platform becoming the first of its kind in Australia to allow agencies and clients to purchase connected TV and broadcast video on demand (BVOD) inventory.

Earlier in 2021, EngageTV teamed up with Roy Morgan to offer postcode level targeting for advertisers in Australia.
