Australia is the first market outside of the US which ESPN has expanded to the platform, as part of its drive to grow its international digital channels, which was kick-started with an overhaul of the sites and increased focus on local sports.

Fox Sports is among several brands which operates in Australia to already have a presence on the burgeoning social platform, which advertisers and publishers see as a key gateway to engage millennial audiences.espn snapchat discover

“Our Australian Snapchat Discover channel will tap into international stories from our already-thriving US channel, and our local editorial team will also layer in a curated collection of fun, relevant sports news stories and moments that matter to younger Australian sports fans,” an ESPN spokeswoman told Mumbrella.

The brand expects to publish around 14 stories each day, specially crafted for the mobile platform, with the likes of Daily Mail, Vice and Mashable already established on it.

ESPN’s international digital strategy head Adam Deutsch is the keynote speaker at this Thursday’s Mumbrella Sports Marketing Summit. See the program and buy tickets here.
