EXCLUSIVE: Stan secures Australian TV rights for major music awards show

Stan has secured the Australian TV rights to one of the world’s biggest music awards.

Mumbrella can exclusively reveal today that the Australian streaming platform will be the exclusive home to the 57th annual CMA Awards when it airs live from Nashville next month.

The CMA Awards – the longest running, annual music awards program in network television history – previously aired in Australia on Nine since 2017 and prior to that, was broadcasted on Foxtel’s CMC channel.

This year’s ceremony will feature a stack of international country music talent who are nominated including Luke Combs, Carrie Underwood, Lainey Wilson, Kelsea Ballerini (pictured above), and Morgan Wallen. It is set to be hosted by country music icon, Luke Bryan, and former NFL footballer, Peyton Manning.

It will mark the second live awards ceremony to be hosted by Stan, following the 2023 Golden Globe Awards this past January, while the streamer will also exclusively broadcast the ARIA Awards on 15 November; the first time Nine places its live broadcast of the ARIA Awards behind a paywall.

“Stan is committed to supporting local content and being the live broadcaster of music’s night of nights is a fantastic opportunity to spotlight Australia’s amazing local artists,” Stan’s Chief Content Officer, Cailah Scobie, said at the time.

“Featuring performances from some of the biggest names in the industry, the ARIA Awards are a momentous occasion to showcase the breadth of musical talent in our country and it is an honour to be able to celebrate the Australian music industry on Stan.”

The CMA Awards will air on Stan from 11am on 9 November.
