Fairfax apologises to ex Leighton boss Wal King for allegations over Middle East dealings

Fairfax Media has today issued a public apology to former Leighton Holdings boss, Wal King, over an article it published three years ago regarding the business practices of the company in Iraq.

The apology has been published across dozens of Fairfax Media’s news sites, including The Australian Financial Review, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and its regional titles.

The allegations related to behaviour undertaken by the infrastructure company in order to win contracts in the Middle East.

The allegations were made while King was CEO at Leighton Holdings, which is now known as CIMIC Group.

The Australian reports that Fairfax Media will pay compensation as part of the settlement.

Fairfax Media has been approached for comment.
