The chief operating officer of Fairfax Media’s events business, Angus Dillon, has departed the company, Mumbrella understands.

He had worked for the division for nine years, first as GM and then COO, with head of Fairfax Events Andrew McEvoy yesterday confirming Dillon’s departure.

Dillon told Mumbrella: “I’m heading overseas to pursue new opportunities in the short term.

“Having worked with many great colleagues and clients since establishing Fairfax Events back in 2006, I’ve got a few options to consider before embarking on the next big adventure.”

The publisher has focused on growing its events business in recent years since and poaching McEvoy, the highly regarded former boss of Tourism Australia, to lead the division as managing director of Fairfax Life Media and Events.

It is understood Dillon’s role has not yet been replaced.
