Fairfax Media names Andrew Burke as editor of AFR Weekend
Fairfax Media’s The Australian Financial Review has confirmed Andrew Burke as editor of AFR Weekend after being in an acting position.
Burke has worked at the Australian Financial Review since 2009 in roles ranging from production editor to, most recently, deputy news director.
Prior to the AFR, Burke worked for the the Daily Telegraph in Sydney before working in London, Hong Kong and across Asia and the Middle East for publications such as the Financial Times, The South China Morning Post and CNN International.
An internal note announced Burke’s appointment, with AFR editor-in-chief Michael Stutchbury and AFR editor Paul Bailey stating: “Andrew has been performing this role admirably in an acting capacity for too long, amid the other duties that most senior editors do in our flexible and over-worked editorial leadership team.”
