Father’s Day ad-wrap: Home Hardware’s brekkie tools; Chemist Warehouse is on the scent; ABC wishes dad ‘Happy Hismus’
Mumbrella looks over some of the latest campaigns to hit our screens in the lead up to Father’s Day.
Home Timber & Hardware is showing off its tool selection in a light-hearted Father’s Day spot that offers tips on how to make the perfect brekkie for dad. The ad, which runs for more than a minute, shows a man in his shed using hardware tools comically to create the perfect Father’s Day breakfast of eggs, bacon, avocado and fresh-squeezed orange juice just for his dad.
Chemist Warehouse is celebrating Father’s Day with a spot centred on fragrances. The beginning of the ad follows a man sampling scents while the end of the spot shows the man stocking up baskets of various fragrances.
ABC Shop has released an ad to celebrate Father’s Day, or – as ABC refers to it – ‘Happy Hismas’. With Christmas-like background music, the spot offers up a series of different gifts showcased for Father’s Day.
Ryobi Australia wants viewers to ‘Give them a little hint’ in an ad showing a father painting the outline of his wish-list tools on his shed wall. Each object is marked as a present for the major gift-giving events of the year: ‘Happy Birthday’, ‘Merry Christmas’ and ‘Happy Father’s Day’.
Avon has unveiled a spot for Father’s Day in Australia and New Zealand, focusing on how dads empower their daughters. The ad includes a voiceover of a young girl who explains how the important people in her life overlooked her dreams while her dad told her to go for it. The spot ends with the words: ‘This Father’s Day, empower daughters everywhere: dad’s would like that”.
Hoyts is promoting movie gift cards this Father’s Day, with a clip from upcoming film, Deepwater Horizon. The clip shows how children look up to their dads, with a young girl asking her dad to bring a fossil home so she can tell her friends that her daddy tames dinosaurs.
Bonds jumped on the Father’s Day bandwagon a few weeks ago, releasing a campaign featuring men talking about how they have ‘let themselves go’ since becoming dads.
Also released last month, McDonald’s released a 90-second spot to celebrate dads, by tracking a man’s life from childless motorbike rider to committed father. The spot finishes with a father and his daughter sharing a meal with the tagline ‘Something for dad’.
