Fetch TV prepares multi-million dollar ad push
Fetch TV is set to challenge Foxtel in the pay-TV market in Australia launching a multi-million dollar ad campaign through its new creative agency Host with Australian partners iiNet and Optus.
While the platform soft launched in Australia in 2010, it represents the first serious marketing push for the brand which offers an alternative to Foxtel with “premium” TV packages, recording and offers 2,500 on-demand movies.
The new campaign launched on Australia Day around the theme ‘Show TV who’s boss’, created by Host Sydney.
Scott Lorson, CEO of Fetch TV, added: “As a challenger brand with a unique and disruptive product, it is exciting to now be in market telling the Fetch TV story, and we’re looking forward to working with Host on the next phase of communications.”
Optus and iiNEt have joined the marketing of the set top box offering as they are the two biggest internet service providers the service is available through.
Suzie Shaw, CEO of Host, said: “We love working with innovative businesses like Fetch. With this campaign, our first task is simply to let people know about their killer product proposition.”

I’m all for an alternative to Foxtel, but if it’s “a challenger brand with a unique and disruptive product” why on earth would you sell it via a load of FTA shows? I’m still unclear what they are selling, as currently I’m not in the mood to pay extra for Offspring and Iview.

Well, just gave up Foxtel at $95 bucks a month… Got Fetch a while back through an iinet package and now for $20 a month I’ll get a bunch of kids channels, Nat Geo, BBC news, SciFi or whatever it’s called and iView and SBS catch up TV on the remote. A few free movies some crappy, some ok. Can watch/record 3 channels at a time (including HD) and it has a 1TB hard drive… As more people take it up (and i know so many ditching Foxtel), they may offer more channels too. So may not be worth it to some, but for the cost it works for me.

That has got to be the worst promo I’ve ever seen.
How about they use some content from Nat Geo and the other cable channels they have, rather than the free stuff you can get elsewhere?
And that voiceover…
