Final episode of Ten’s Hughesy We Have a Problem captures 456,000 viewers, well behind Gruen’s 731,000

The final episode of the first season of Ten’s panel show Hughesy, We Have A Problem pulled in 456,000 metro viewers on Wednesday night.

Hughesy, We Have A Problem, which is led by comedian and Hit Network’s drive show co-host Dave ‘Hughesy’ Hughes, premiered in January with 632,000 viewers.

But it was unable to beat other programs in its time slot, with ABC’s Gruen leading at 8:30pm with 731,000 metro viewers. Following the filming of the show on Tuesday night, host Wil Anderson criticised the audience’s lack of energy, while speculative reports claimed the crowd thought segments were “boring”. The ABC however, said “nothing unusual or untoward” occurred.

Nine’s Britain’s Got Talent also obtained a lead over Hughesy, We Have A Problem, with 499,000 metro viewers.

However Nine’s Britain’s Got Talent, Ten’s Hughesy, We Have a Problem and ABC’s Gruen were all able to beat Modern Family, which now runs on Seven after Ten’s deal with Fox fell through. Modern Family had 357,000 metro viewers, according to OzTAM’s overnight preliminary metro ratings.

Earlier on in the evening, Ten’s Masterchef Australia took the lead, with 910,000 metro viewers over House Rules’ 624,000.

Nine’s 7:30pm offering, Young Sheldon, defeated House Rules, with 649,000 viewers. At 8pm, Nine’s The Big Bang Theory achieved 579,000.

News was the most popular programming on Wednesday night, with Seven’s 6pm news bulletin managing 996,000 and Nine News’ raking in a metro audience of 952,000.

Overall, Nine won the evening with a main channel share of 18.5% over Seven’s 16.8% and Ten’s 15.4%. The ABC wasn’t fair behind the commercial free to airs – at 13.9% – while SBS finished with a 6.2% share.
