Final Gruen Transfer features death, Oprah, airlines and Australandzealandland

Tonight’s final episode of the current series of The Gruen Transfer will see agencies challenged to sell the idea of uniting Australia and New Zealand.

The Pitch sees M&C Saatchi Sydney take on Y&R Wellington.

The third season has been the most successful one yet for the show, which explains the business and craft of advertising to viewers. It’s mid-series Gruen Nation election specials delivered record ratings.

Although a fourth series appears likely, a spokesman for the ABC told Mumbrella that discussions were still continuing with production company Zapruder’s Other Films.

Tonight’s will also see the show name is worst ad of all time.

The guest panellists are DDB’s departing national creative director Matt Eastwood and Contagion creative director Bridget Taylor.

Other topics include the marketing of airlines and Oprah Winfrey’s trip to Australia.

The show will also discuss The Works’ banned euthanasia ad. It was created for client Exit International after The Works entered The Pitch and impressed the campaigning organisation. However, it was blocked from airing by Free TV Australia.

The show airs on ABC1 at 9pm.
