Five months and still autoplaying
It’s five months today since Fairfax promised to switch off autoplay videos.
Please join me in wishing them warm congratulations on hitting the milestone.
No doubt they’ll get round to keeping the promise any minute now.

A few sites have ceased autoplay to retain their ABA green tick accreditation, so at least that’s some progress on this issue of risk for media buyers.

I wonder how many Australian marketing managers are taking the opportunity to point out to their agencies that online video stream numbers in these publications count for nothing and are an acid eating at their credibility. Personally I can’t hit the pause button fast enough, and find these unwanted intrusions in my online browsing frustrating to say the least…
