Food beats footy in Wednesday’s big TV night

If Tuesday’s slaying of Seven’s Packed To The Rafters by Masterchef was an achievement, Wednesday’s edition was even more remarkable, setting another series record for Ten and beating Nine’s State of Origin in the ratings.

Masterchef pulled in an audience of well over 2.2m, while the wooden spoon State of Origin game rated 1.8m in a night where many Australians had their feet up in front of the box.

Meanwhile, the audience for the ABC’s  The Chaser’s War On Everything was about the same as last week, at just below 1m, accoridng to preliminary OzTam metro ratings.

Nine easily won the night with a share of 30.4% to Ten’s 24.5%. Seven was on 23.6%, followed by the ABC’s 15.4% and SBS’s 6.2%. With interest growing in Masterchef as Sunday’s final looms, Ten will be hoping for a rare week’s win. The network is currently on 26.5%, just ahead of Seven’s 25.4% and Nine’s 24.7%.
