Former MLA marketing head joins Herefords as CEO

Meat and Livestock Australia’s (MLA) former chief marketing and insights officer Lisa Sharp is joining cattle association Herefords Australia as chief executive officer.

The appointment follows the resignation of Herefords Australia general manager, Andrew Donoghue.

Sharp has held executive and marketing and communication leadership roles across several public, private, and not-for-profit organisations, including head of marketing for Novartis Consumer Health, and held senior management positions at PZ Cussons, Coca-Cola Amatil and Goodman Fielder. She was at the MLA for five years, until April 2020.

Chair of Herefords Australia, Hon. Trish Worth AM, said it was Sharp’s combination of general management and red meat marketing experience that impressed the board.

“The appointment of Lisa Sharp acknowledges the importance of marketing and promotion to our members. …now is the time to promote the benefits of Herefords to commercial producers and others in the supply chain. ”

Sharp worked on the last two, five-year strategic plans for MLA and will lead the development of Herefords Australia strategic plan and annual business plans.

Sharp commences her role with Herefords Australia on 22 February, 2021.

The MLA was contacted in regards to the ongoing search for a replacement for Sharp. A response was not received in time for publishing.
