Former Reborn and JWT boss Noel Magnus takes management role at Edge

Former head of independent agency Reborn and network agency J. Walter Thompson Noel Magnus has resurfaced, taking on the group managing director role at Edge.

His is one of four appointments as the agency shuffles its executive team in a restructure from a content agency to a focus on brand engagement.

Magnus was most recently at Reborn, but departed the agency earlier this year amid a restructure. He has also worked at M&C Saatchi, Leo Burnett and Publicis, as well as several smaller agencies in the past four years. His new role will involve him running national operations.

In his new role, Magnus has hired Jo Giles as operations and production director. Giles has previously worked with Archibald Williams, R/GA and Havas worldwide.

Magnus said: “I expect to see us challenging the way brands communicate – and look forward to combining many creative agency disciplines with fast-paced content creation and distribution to help shape the future of communications for our clients.”

The move comes months after the agency announced it had snared Matt Batten, former executive creative director at Wunderman , to run the agency’s national creative team.

Dan King has been hired as managing director for Edge’s office in Melbourne.

The new exec team is designed to allow Edge managing partners Fergus Stoddart and Richard Parker to focus on the agency’s future growth and direction.

Stoddart said: “One of the biggest challenges clients face is delivering compelling one-to-one content experiences at scale. The new team means we are uniquely placed to achieve that for our clients.

“We can now combine the content skills we have with broader comms and advertising knowledge, data and CRM to deliver a more integrated and rounded service. Noel, Matt, Jo and Dan’s experience will be invaluable.”

The new team will work together to focus on the agency’s large content accounts.
