Foxtel and Sky News change channel numbers ‘for ease of navigation’

Over 40 channels across Foxtel and Sky News have been given new channel numbers, in an attempt improve navigation for customers.

“It just makes sense for us to keep similar genre channels grouped together, for ease of navigation,” explained Foxtel in an announcement on its site.

It also pointed out that a “pain-point for several customers” has been having “your viewing interrupted by an ‘upgrade’ message if you don’t subscribe to a channel.”

As part of the updates, A-PAC (Australia’s Public Affairs Channel) is changing its name to Sky News Extra, and can now be accessed on channel 604.

SkyNews.com.au now houses three digital video news streams Sky News Extra 1, Sky News Extra 2 and Sky News Extra 3, featuring highlights across the Sky News channels, including breaking news, media conferences, events and programming LIVE 24/7.

Sky News Live is also now available as an audio stream with a new online radio platform.

“We understand there will be a period of adjustment but ultimately this will enhance the user experience,” Foxtel said.
