Foxtel’s Adam Suckling moves to News Limited
Foxtel’s director of policy and corporate affairs Adam Suckling is to join News Limited in the new role of director of policy, corporate affairs and community relations.
His appointment follows yesterday’s confirmation of Stephen Browning as director of communications. He will report in to Suckling.
Suckling’s move sees him reunited with former boss Kim Williams who is now CEO at News Limited. He arrives as the company makes its first moves into paywall journalism. The Australian made the leap late last year while the Sun Herald launches its paywall next week.
Suckling said: “The opportunity to be part of the team Kim is putting together at News was one I just could not miss. I am really looking forward to getting stuck into the new role and contributing to building on News Limited’s extraordinary strengths in print, on-line and digital media.”
Accoridng to the news Limited announcement Suckling will be responsible for policy, regulatory affairs, government relations, communications, local investor relations and the company’s corporate social responsibility programs.
Williams said: “I am delighted that Adam has agreed to join us at News Limited. He is an outstanding executive who over the decade or so I worked with him at Foxtel played a critical role in the direction and growth of the company.”
Suckling began his career as a research assistant to former Prime Minister Gough Whitlam. In 1992 he joined PR consultancy Turnbull Fox Phillips and also worked in a communications and regulatory roles for Telstra and Optus.
Tim Burrowes founded Mumbrella in 2008. He worked on Mumbrella until 2021. At various points he was editor, content director and editor-at-large.
