Fruit producers turn time bandits in cinema ad
An ad campaign featuring the time travelling adventures of a fruit thief is currently running in Australian cinemas to promote the fruit Achacha, which is now being grown in Australia for the first time.
Titled The Chase, the short is directed by Carl Firth.
As well as the cinema ad, the launch of the fruit is being supported by the Achacha website and a presence on Twitter and Facebook. Originally a Bolivian fruit named achachairú, it is now being grown in North Queensland.

I had my doubts when I read the description, but that spot is surprisingly great.

That Amazon looks very bush just out that back of my place. Gum trees kinda give it away

Not bad, little bit cheap and clichéd but at least they were trying to be different.
It was quite noticeable that it wasn’t the Amazon. What was the significance of leaving the wormhole locator behind? I expected a final twist!
Also they could have found to showcase perfect versions of the fruit. Not the ones with scars/bruises! They needed a food ad photographer to make it look appetizing!

I’m guessing the locator will leave it open for the experiential side of things so they can have conquestador soldier types running about? Will be interesting to see what other activities follow.

I didn’t discover the new world for this, I promise.

It really was the Amazon, I was there! I used the time travelling device to come here after him, I obviously learnt English before posting this response.

And what does it taste like? Where do you buy it? I certainly does’nt look very appetising in this presentation. Can you put it in a pavlova?
So many questions, so little info. I gues I have to wait for the client to panick and run a infomercial spot with that skinny bird or an ex swimmer in it.
Fail.

Hey Gezza,
Here’s a thought….go out and buy the damn fruit!

bought the fruit from rusty’s market in cairns yesterday…. AUS$6 for 8 little fruit…. it is very similar (in taste) to the south-east-asian fruit duku…. it does not taste like mangosteen at all (despite its relation to the latter)…. i would buy it again, but only if it is cheaper….

oh yes… the seeds are big, and the edible while flesh is very thin…. i don’t think it is suitable to be put on a pavlova (to answer the question above)…..
