Furphy Beer launches social competition to celebrate Buddy Franklin’s 1000th goal via Thinkerbell

Furphy Beer has partnered with Thinkerbell to create a limited edition glass boot to commemorate AFL’s Lance ‘Buddy’ Franklin’s anticipated 1000th goal in a social competition.

The announcement:

Furphy Beer has created an ‘Un-buddy-believable’ glass boot to commemorate AFL’s Lance ‘Buddy’ Franklin’s anticipated 1000th goal in a social competition via Thinkerbell.

Furphy Beer, official beer partner of the Sydney Swans, commissioned the creation of 10 limited edition glass vessels modeled on Franklin’s size 13 left footy boot. For the chance to win one, fans need to post a snap or video of them celebrating the moment Franklin scores the 1000th goal with the hashtag #unBuddybelieveable (and tagging @furphybeer).

Lion Portfolio Director Craft and Premium Malcolm Eadie says: “As a brand, Furphy has always celebrated the art of great Australian storytelling and there’s no doubt Franklin’s 1000th goal will go down as an epic story for fans. So we thought what better way to commemorate the milestone than with a piece of memorabilia that’s equally as rare.”

Thinkerbell Head Creative Tinker, Sesh Moodley says: “Lance has already kicked so many unbelievable goals, so what unbelievable thing could we pull off for Buddy Franklin scoring his 1000th goal? Writing a brief for a glass blower to create a replica of his left boot! We’re looking forward to seeing how fans celebrate the #unbuddybelievable moment across socials.”

With 996 goals under his belt, Franklin is set to become the sixth player in the league’s history to reach the record achievement of 1000 goals. After kicking one goal in the opening round of the 2022 season last weekend, Franklin is just four goals away from the historic achievement. The next match for the Swans is tonight against Geelong at the SCG (Sydney Cricket Ground).
