Game of Thrones finale pulls in 265,000 on Foxtel while Married at First Sight cracks 1m

The finale of season five of HBO’s Game of Thrones saw 254,000 national viewers tune in at 11am for the fast-tracked presentation on Foxtel’s Showcase, with 265,000 viewers watching the replay at 7.30pm.

The result sees the GOT finale remain on par with the launch of the season, which saw 236,000 viewers tuning in for the fast-tracked debut, and 279,000 watching the repeat 7.30pm screening.

Meanwhile on free-to-air, Nine’s reality dating show Married at First Sight has bounced back above the 1m viewer mark after dipping to 971,000 metro viewers last week.

The show, which airs in the 8.40pm timeslot, grabbed a metro audience of 1.078m to be the most-watched non-news show of the evening.

It was the most-watched show amongst the key advertising demographics 18-39 and 25-54 while Masterchef was the most-watched show amongst viewers aged 16-39.

Ten’s cooking reality show was watched by 1.078m in the 7.30pm timeslot, down from last week’s audience of 1.135m.

Married at First Sight, and the popularity of Nine News which grabbed 1.201m viewers at 6pm and 1.148m at 6.30pm, handed Nine a winning audience share of 20.7 per cent. Seven lagged a little behind with a share of 17.1 per cent, just ahead of the ABC’s share of 17 per cent. Ten settled for fourth place with a share of 15 per cent.

Also in the 7.30pm timeslot, Seven’s House Rules was watched by 907,000 viewers while Nine’s Reno Rumble posted a metro audience of 735,000.

On the ABC, 7.30 grabbed 838,000 metro viewers, Australian Story (8pm) was watched by 900,000, Four Corners (8.30pm) had 836,000 viewers, Media Watch (9.20pm) posted an audience of 809,000 and Q&A (9.30pm) was watched by 664,000 metro viewers.

Meanwhile on Seven, Revenge at 8.45pm grabbed 520,000, with a second episode pulling in 459,000 viewers.

Ten’s Have You Been Paying Attention?, airing from 8.30pm, was watched by 592,000.

In news, Seven News at 6pm was watched by 990,000, dipping to 953,000 from 6.30pm. ABC News from 7pm was watched by 882,000 and Ten Eyewitness News First at Five had a metro audience of 646,000.
