Garry Ferris new editor of mX Brisbane

Garry Ferris has been appointed editor of News Ltd’s free daily mX Brisbane, replacing Steve Zeppa, who moved to a group news editor role at APN in September after 11 months at the helm of mX.

Ferris returns to News Ltd from Queenstown in New Zealand, where he spent six years as editor, editor-in-chief and editorial director of community newspaper Mountain Scene.

He previously worked for News Ltd on The Australian and The Daily Telegraph in Sydney. He also worked in the UK on The Independent and The Guardian. News Ltd editorial director Campbell Reid said: “Garry is re-joining us at an incredibly exciting time for mX Brisbane, which is growing steadily and becoming a more assured presence among commuters. This is reflected in the paper’s advertising revenues, which are up 30% so far this year.”

Ferris said: “It’s almost impossible not to have fun on a paper that’s as feisty and different as mX.”
