Geeks on a bike-powered turntable in ad for Arnott’s Shapes
DDB has launched a new campaign for Arnott’s brand Shapes, to promote the launch of its new sizzling summer range.
Created by DDB Sydney, the ad shows three geeks powering a homemade record player made of the biscuits, with the slogan ‘out of the box flavour.’

Why are we seeing all these geeky, unhealthy looking blokes on TV? Beauty and the Geek, Big Bang Theory, KFC ads and now this? How could these people appeal to anybody? Please, let’s see some fit, healthy people and muscle with summer coming up.
anybody miss out on a credit???
Matt,
Obviously there was no technical consultant.
Turntables turn clockwise. The cartridge follows the tonearm which is how it swings toward the middle of the platter.
SC
Director should be the only one putting his name to this… lame and sexually vague.
The Guy on the right looks like Bradley from the Big Brother House.
AMAZING!! Even have it as a favourite. Best ad of the year
I love this commercial, one of my favourites 🙂
I LOOVVVEEE THIS ADDD!!!
LOVE IT! Ringtone?
Ringtone? Love it
Who are the guys singing? I want to see more of their work and can’t see them credited anywhere.
Totally awesome ad. I stop for it everytime. Catchy little ad.
If Flight of the Conchords had done another ad after their Femident toothpaste stunner (“You’re a woman, you have woman’s needs”), I think it would have sounded like this little Shapes gem. It has a massive FOTC vibe!
