Global digital agency DEPT expands in Australia
Launched in Australia less than a year ago, global digital agency DEPT has expanded its Sydney office by more than 25% in Q1 2023, gearing up to “break the silos between the CIO and CMO” by transitioning into a digital full-service agency.
Amongst the new hires was Antonio Castiglia, who joined the company as strategy director, overseeing DEPT’s creative strategy offering across Australia alongside growing its social media and brand strategy scope.

Castiglia joined after strategy consulting gigs with global luxury media company Highsnobiety, and DDB.
Speaking to Mumbrella about what’s on the card for the rest of 2023, James Kane, founder of Two Bulls (which DEPT acquired last year), said the group is looking to create more “integrated end-to-end digital experiences”.
“When we talk about a full-service offering in technology and marketing, we mean our four key disciplines Experience, Engineering, Creative and Growth,” he said.
“On the technology side, the Two Bulls/DEPT team in Melbourne brings deep engineering experience and product design expertise to the table, so that end of the spectrum is covered.
“The team in Sydney has been delivering exceptional personalised content for years and, over the last 12 months, developed their creative competence. These new hires bear witness to that.”
Two Bulls’ clients include Beyond Blue, Service Victoria, Hasbro and MailChimp. In the Asia Pacific region, DEPT is following an acquisition-led growth approach to grow to 1,000 people and contribute 10% to global revenues by 2024.
“It’s now up to us to connect the dots, to work together in combined project teams and to create the biggest benefits from combining the services to take our work to the next level,” Kane added.
“The team is geared to explore new ways of working, like AI as a co-pilot, to maximise the impact we can create together and keep clients’ needs front and centre.”
Other new hires include Sam McGraw as account director, Michelle Krikowa as social media manager and Michelle Ramsay as senior copywriter.
DEPT was founded in Amsterdam in 2015 with more than 4,000 employees globally now.
