Gogglebox delivers Ten a much needed win on Thursday night

A quiet Thursday night delivered Ten a much-needed win in the OzTam overnight ratings, with Gogglebox awarded the most watched non-news show for the night.

The Foxtel-produced show also topped the key audience demographics, with Ten leading the 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54 age groups and putting the network ahead of the ABC in network and main channel shares.

Gogglebox was the most popular non-news program for Thursday TV

In main channel audiences, Ten took a 14.1% share over the ABC’s 11.4%, although still well behind Seven’s 18.4% and Nine’s 15.9%. SBS attracted 5.0% of the night’s audience.

For the network shares, Seven topped the night with 29.4% of the audience ahead of Nine’s 25.5%. Ten took 19.8% over the ABC’s 17.2% and SBS’s 8.1%.

Nine’s audience share wasn’t helped by Today’s performance, with the struggling breakfast show recording 167,000 metro viewers against Seven’s Sunrise’s audience of 279,000. Nationally the two shows attracted 260,000 and 467,000.

While Gogglebox was the most watched news show for the evening, news shows still dominated, with Seven’s news topping the metro audiences, followed by Nine’s and the ABC’s News, all of which finished well ahead of Gogglebox.

Nine’s Young Sheldon was the only other stand-out non-news performer for the night, scraping into the top 15 metro shows and making the 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54 demographics.
