Gogglebox premiere attracts 824,000 but is beaten by The Block’s first Thursday outing
The premiere of Ten’s new season of Gogglebox captured 824,000 metro viewers last night, winning its time slot, and making it the second most watched non-news show of the evening.
But Nine’s The Block, airing on a Thursday for the first time this series, topped the night with an audience of 1.16m.
It comfortably beat Ten’s The Bachelorette Australia in the same timeslot which drew 793,000 viewers, down from last Thursday’s episode of 809,000.
The Block’s ratings helped win the night for Nine with an audience share of 22.2%. Ten captured 17.7% ahead of Seven’s 17.1% with ABC on 8.1% and SBS 5.1%.
Meanwhile, A Current Affair on Nine drew 775,000, up from last week’s 756,000, while The Chase on Seven pulled 533,000 viewers, down marginally from 537,000.
In the news battleground, Nine News at 6pm won the night with 924,000 beating Seven’s 880,000 in the same time slot.
A metro audience of 897,000 tuned in to Seven News/Today Tonight at 6.30, just ahead of Nine’s 882,000.
ABC’s top rated program of the night was the news with an audience of 708,000.
