Greg McLean talks Wolf Creek 2
Writer/director/producer Greg McLean has confirmed production of Wolf Creek 2, based on “another true case in Australia” and retaining the originals’ “gritty tone and realistic texture”.
“I always had a sequel in mind. The goal was to create an Australian horror character that could be the basis for many stories. All of the true story elements just naturally evolved. That’s why at the end of the first film he walks off into the sunset, and we have absolutely no idea about who this guy is. It leaves the audience wondering, who/what/how did this guy come to be? And the ground is set to delve deeper into this character,” said McLean.
In interview with US horror film magazine Fangoria, McLean revealed that it will be shot “deep” in the outback, and that the budget will be larger: “We will be able to afford a few more lights this time, hopefully”. However, McLean did not discuss when and where the film will be shot.
In Wolf Creek 2, John Jarratt will reprise his role, but it will not be more of the same as McLean is aware that times – and audiences – have changed since 2005.
“So we’re not trying to do the first movie again as there’s no point to that, but the challenge for this film is keeping the best and most original elements of the first film while exploring different kinds of horror, suspense and thrills. And, of course, making it a character study as we go deeper into the mind and psychology of a mass murdering maniac,” he said.
Thats pretty sick and horrible making “entertainment’ out of true life incidents of torture and murder. Sicker still how successful such movies are and that they can make a sequel. Hmmm I wonder which persons rape, torture or murder we can base this next exciting sequel on?

Settle down mate – Wolf Creek is not based on fact, its a movie, designed, like all horror films, to scare people.
Either you watch it or you don’t – no one forces audiences to buy tickets.

Great news! I can’t wait to see the creative scenes, locations, death shots of course and characters McLean comes up with next. I hope he can incorporate something unique, like John Jarrat feading some of the protagonists to a “pet” crocodile that is in a billa bong or water hole near his place. That would be so cool.

Making films about nutters who kill people for thrills!
I wonder what the parents and siblings of people who have gone missing, or were raped, murdered and tortured feel? Of course to some lunatic it doesn’t glorify his exploits, urging some emotional retarded sicko to wallow in the curious fame of popular culture, no this is a horror film, made for pure entertainment, its meant to scare people…and that’s important. I’m not sure if I’m more scared of how our society now feels that real misery is mere popcorn munching schlock or that people make this mindless dross and somehow cloak it in a specific genre, thus stepping aside from all blame, dodging the bullet of the fact that they have merely made and profited from overrated torture porn.
Yawn..
Why are horror filmmakers always talking about their films like they’re on some amazing creative mission towards the solution of solving world peace and hunger?

It leaves the audience wondering, who/what/how did this guy come to be? – I don’t agree. It left me wondering why I bothered to waste part of my life watching this s***.
